“We recently discovered that we had a water leak in the tiles of our front deck which overlies our garage that was resulting in damage to the underlying structures as well as the siding. We needed to replace some of the underlying support as well as the waterproof membrane, the tile and the siding as well as paint the new siding. We got several bids but the approach proposed by Don Vedaa and Mark Stumpf made the most sense and their price was competitive. We were very impressed and pleased with the attention to detail and genuine concern that things be done right. They really went the extra mile, as if it were their own house they were working on. Communication was good throughout the project and the people who did the work were very thoughtful of our neighbors and very pleasant to have around. The damage turned out to be more extensive than originally thought so the project took a bit longer than anticipated but the cost estimate was accurate. The overall cost turned out to be over the original estimate also but that was because we added new windows, new lights, and requested a change in the paint, all things that were not included in the original proposal. We are very pleased with the end result and are happy we chose to go with DWV Construction. We recommend them highly.”

“My husband and I called three licensed/bonded contractors to demolish and rebuild a room of our old house. Don, from DWV Construction was the third to inspect the project. He immediately noticed the floor of the room was slightly sloped, possibly indicating a costly structural problem. This important detail was completely missed by the other contractors. “DWV is a small company that is able to create magnificent living spaces. Don Vedaa is a fine contractor and is on the job site daily. In larger companies the principal may not show up regularly. We felt it was essential that he oversee all aspects of the job, and assess the work of his subs. We converted four 100 year old rooms in an old part of our house to a much more commodious, welcoming, and useful open space, that allows for more cohesive sightlines, traffic flow, and HVAC circulation. They now blend seamlessly with a newer section of the house, without losing the sense of a vintage domicile. We were very happy with Don's work and most of his subs are seasoned pros. When errors or oversights were identified they were corrected quickly. While the timeline got a bit stretched out of shape, it was through no fault of DWV. We strongly recommend DWV for small to midsized domestic or business remodels, rebuilds, or new structures.”

“We’d been considering a full gut remodel of our kitchen and primary bathroom since moving into our home several years ago. The unknown scope and cost of such a project seemed to keep this idea slightly out of reach. A leaking toilet was our springboard to begin calling contractors for a bid. At this point we were still unsure if we would move forward with a simple toilet replacement/repair or pursue our dream of a full kitchen and bathroom remodel. We did our due diligence and met with several contractors. When we met Don and shared our vision for the project, it was clear to us we would be choosing DWV Construction for our project. After our consult, Don took our ideas and transformed them into layout and design. He walked us through each step of the planning process including meeting us at various supply distributors to ensure our selections best fit the spaces. Don gave an estimate of 8 weeks from demo to finishing touches. Don was always present at each phase of our project and gave clear direction to his subcontractors. Everyone who worked on our project were very professional, polite and skilled. We chose to continue living in our home during the project which comes with certain expectations, Don made this as comfortable as possible and was very respectful of our family time. We were fortunate not to have any major surprises along our journey, however each time the unexpected happened, Don and his team corrected course without any undue stress. In the end our project was completed ahead of schedule, on budget and we are completely pleased with the result. We fully recommend DWV Construction for your home projects. “Don Vedaa was our contractor for the huge remodel and addition that we had done on our 1924 Portland bungalow. The work consisted of adding an extension to the back of the house for a bedroom/bath, new kitchen and laundry. Along with these, a dining room was created, existing bathroom remodeled, topped off with a new roof and paint all around. We hired Don based upon the recommendation by our architect that designed the work that we had done, and we could not have been happier with Don's service. From the very beginning Don was responsive and worked hard to get us all of the information needed to make the ultimate decision to have the work done. The COVID-19 pandemic did create some significant challenges between the increased costs and the supply issues, but Don managed to find options that would work when those problems arose. As always happens with construction, unanticipated issues occurred. We were very pleased with Don's communication with us when these issues arose and his responsiveness in working with his subcontractors to resolve the problems. The quality of the workmanship and materials he chose were excellent. Don's expertise shines in the bathroom and kitchen remodeling we had done. We are thrilled to be living in our much improved homed and appreciate all of Don's hard work.”

“I would mark what services we used Don for, but that would entail nearly all of the services listed. We had nearly our entire first floor remodeled: kitchen remodel, all new floors, bathroom updates, ceiling vaulted, etc. We had the exterior of our home redone: new siding, insulation in exterior walls, windows and doors weatherized, wrapped and re-installed appropriately, as well as adding new windows and doors. Also, we had a new extension added to our shed. This was all after we had hit many roadblocks from a previous architect and contractor. Don worked with an architect that we were using from our prior contractor (who is great) and ended up giving us an amazing final product. We chose Don because I truly feel like Don has the best communication out of all of the contractors that we've worked with, or have even met with. Usually, you're met with unanswered e-mails, calls, etc., and if you do get communication back it's quite delayed. That is not the case with Don. As of writing this review, I could probably call Don right now, and have him over in a couple of hours, if not sooner. Even by e-mail, Don responds back to you within a day at a max from what we experienced. Also, at first with the budget we weren't seeing eye-to-eye on the process, but Don was able to adjust the process more to our liking, so we were both on the same page. Point being: Don is very flexible even in how he works through the project to make sure there aren't any surprises, and that you're comfortable with the process. Heck we even came a little bit under budget with respect to the initial quote. Don also hires and works with great people. Marc is awesome, and a true craftsman. Vaughn and Brad are awesome cabinet makers. Ovi and Dylan were great on the flooring, and plumbing, respectively. Ken was great on the HVAC, and all of the folks on the electrical side were awesome, as well. Projects on a large scale are stressful, and I really think Don helped mitigate that as much as possible. We would definitely use Don in the future, and have already recommended him to neighbors who've complimented us on our home, and it appears they're moving forward with him as well on their projects/renovations.”
