Question 1

How long does a kitchen renovation take?

Accepted Answer

Most kitchen renovations are complete within six to ten weeks of demolition. Cabinetry lead time is the largest schedule variable; flexibility on door style typically reduces total duration by two to three weeks. Each project is delivered with a milestone-based schedule established before construction begins.

Question 2

Does DWV handle permitting?

Accepted Answer

Yes. All permitting is managed by DWV — building, electrical, plumbing, and structural. We file the applications, coordinate inspections, and close the project file with the issuing authority.

Question 3

Is DWV licensed and insured?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Oregon CCB #208048, with general liability insurance and workers' compensation coverage active on every project. Certificates of insurance are provided prior to contract execution upon request.

Question 4

How does the estimate process work?

Accepted Answer

Initial inquiries can be made by phone, email, or the project inquiry form on this site. We will discuss the scope and constraints, schedule a site visit when appropriate, and prepare an itemized written quote. The quote is typically delivered within 48–72 hours of the site assessment.

Question 5

What warranty does DWV provide?

Accepted Answer

DWV provides a one-year workmanship warranty in writing on every project. Manufacturer warranties for cabinetry, appliances, and fixtures pass through to the homeowner; the relevant documentation is delivered at project closeout. DWV remains the point of contact for warranty service following project completion.

Question 6

Will the owner be on site during construction?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Don is on site daily for the duration of the build phase. The homeowner has Don's direct mobile number from project initiation; daily site walks and progress reviews are conducted by Don personally.

Question 7

What is the typical cost of an ADU?

Accepted Answer

Detached accessory dwelling units in the Portland Metro typically range from $200,000 to $400,000. Variance is driven by square footage, finish level, and site conditions including utilities, grading, and foundation type. A specific itemized quote is provided following a site assessment of the lot.

Question 8

What areas does DWV serve?

Accepted Answer

Lake Oswego, Milwaukie, SE Portland, and the greater Portland Metro service area, including West Linn, Tualatin, Tigard, Beaverton, Happy Valley, and Oregon City.

Question 9

Can examples of completed projects be reviewed?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The Gallery section on this site presents recent completed work. Drive-by visits to completed projects in the homeowner's neighborhood can be arranged on request when geography allows.

Question 10

Does DWV accept smaller projects in addition to full renovations?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Decks, concrete work, single-room renovations, and garage conversions are within scope when they fall within DWV's expertise.
