Walk through a real job.

This is the Five Week Kitchen: a dated kitchen taken to the studs and rebuilt in under five weeks. Swipe through it, with the lines from its quote.

Oak cabinets, granite tile counters and a laminate floor before the remodel

As Don found it.

Oak cabinets, granite tile counters, a tiled peninsula bar under three pendants and a laminate floor. Don walks the room with the homeowner and checks the structure before any design starts.

Every line is priced and written down. An allowance is the amount set aside for something you have not picked yet, so you can see what happens when you pick above or below it.

What you get at this stage

An itemized written quote, usually within 48 to 72 hours.

Stage 1 of 5
The old kitchen with oak cabinets and a granite tile peninsula

Approved before anything came out.

The kitchen was rendered in maple and quartz. The layout stayed: the sink under the window, the range on the left run, the refrigerator on the right with a full height pantry beside it.

On the quote

  • CabinetsAllowance

Custom maple shaker from DWV's cabinet supplier, with a full height pantry column.

  • CountersAllowance

Calacatta Idillio quartz, three centimeters, on the counters and the peninsula.

What you get at this stage

A 3D rendering to approve, and selections confirmed in writing.

Stage 2 of 5
Kitchen stripped to the framing with the subfloor exposed
Gutted kitchen with the old pendants still hanging over the peninsula framing

Down to the framing.

The old counters, cabinets and flooring came out, the walls were opened for new wiring and plumbing, and the peninsula was stripped to its studs.

Old counters, cabinets and flooring out, and the peninsula stripped to its studs.

Stage 3 of 5

Maple base cabinets, quartz counter and grey plank flooring under the window

Every trade in order.

The cabinets, counters, tile and floor went in with each trade in its own turn, and three seeded glass pendants went in over the peninsula.

On the quote

  • TileAllowance

Arizona Tile Flash in white, three by twelve, from the counter to the uppers.

  • FlooringAllowance

Epic Plank flooring in Vibe, run through the whole room.

What you get at this stage

Every inspection passed before the walls close.

Stage 4 of 5
The finished kitchen with custom maple cabinets and seeded glass pendants

Under five weeks, start to finish.

What was built matches the rendering. “He stayed within that budget and the timeline that he set for us early in the process.” Lauren Drury, Google review

DWV files the permits, books every inspection and closes the file.

What you get at this stage

Stage 5 of 5
Hillside house with a rebuilt deck over the garage and new cedar siding

Don runs the job himself.

He is the general contractor and he is on site daily. The electricians, plumbers, tile setters and carpenters are a long tenured team that comes back job after job, and he sequences them so each trade has the house to itself. You have his cell number from the first day.

“I can't even imagine not having a GC for this. Don managed the flow, dealt with the issues and kept me informed daily.”

Ask Don about this

Permits and inspections.

DWV files the building, electrical, plumbing and structural permits, answers the city's corrections, books every inspection and closes the file. Nothing gets covered until it has passed.

What homeowners ask.

  • Old houses hide things, and some jobs change once the walls are open. When that happens you hear it from Don, and the change is priced in writing before the work starts. The same goes for anything you decide to add.

After losing their contractor, they interviewed 12 more.

“After losing our GC for an extensive remodel, we interviewed 12 additional GC's & DWV was in our top 2 for consideration. What propelled DWV to the top was their professionalism, thoroughness, and acute detail to ensure they provided an accurate quote. Don Vedaa was communicative, responsive, and provided solid advisement throughout. DWV maintains your best interest at all times. Highly recommend.”
