Whole-home remodeling · Portland Metro
Remodeling a whole house is a sequencing job; six trades in the right order and a family that still needs somewhere to live. Don has run that schedule across Portland since 2008, design, permits, build, and final inspection under one roof.

Why homeowners hire DWV
Trade sequencing, cash flow staging, and homeowner accommodation logistics on a whole-home project differ materially from single-room work. DWV's protocols are established and documented.
The owner is the homeowner's contact from initial assessment through final inspection. The person who prices the job runs the job.
Bungalow, Craftsman, and mid-century homes are renovated with attention to original detailing. Trim profiles, casing, and millwork are matched where the homeowner directs.
A milestone-based schedule is shared at the start of construction and updated weekly. Slippage is communicated in writing with a revised milestone date.
We had nearly our entire first floor remodeled: kitchen, all new floors, bathroom updates, ceiling vaulted, etc. We had the exterior of our home redone: new siding, insulation, windows and doors. We chose Don because he has the best communication out of all of the contractors we've worked with. As of writing this review, I could probably call Don right now and have him over in a couple of hours. Don also hires great people — Marc, Vaughn, Brad, Ovi, Dylan, Ken — all awesome at what they do. We came in under budget on the initial quote.
Don Vedaa was our contractor for the huge remodel and addition on our 1924 Portland bungalow. The work consisted of adding an extension for a bedroom/bath, new kitchen and laundry. Along with these, a dining room was created, existing bathroom remodeled, topped off with a new roof and paint all around. From the very beginning Don was responsive and worked hard to get us the information needed. The quality of the workmanship and materials was excellent.
We did a full remodel on a 1952 home with a challenging layout. All work was completed in a timely manner, and we stayed within the original budget. Don's experience was key in navigating the difficulties we faced. We trusted him from day one. The work Marc and his team did is simply the best — the tile work in particular was outstanding.

FAQ
Most whole-home projects require temporary relocation for at least part of the schedule. The duration depends on whether the kitchen and at least one bathroom can remain in service through the project. DWV maps this at the start and discusses options openly.

Milwaukie's residential stock is heavily weighted toward Craftsman bungalow and mid-century construction. The bones are typically sound; the systems — electrical, plumbing, insulation — are typically what require attention. DWV's whole-home and kitchen-bath work in Milwaukie reflects that pattern.

SE Portland is the densest pocket of century-old bungalow stock in the metro. DWV has been renovating these homes — Hawthorne, Sellwood, Mt Tabor, Laurelhurst, Richmond, Brooklyn — weekly for the firm's full 17-year history. The pattern is familiar.
